Artist: Freddy Monday Album: Everything Anyhow Genre: Easy Listening, Pop, Rock Label: CDBY Tracks: 12 Type: LP Release Date: May 31, 2011 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: B Factoid: Freddy's music has been featured on shows like Moonlight, Burn Notice, and Dark Blue. Monday was also a member of the band Sorethumb. If you’re a TV fan more then likely you will have heard one of Freddy Monday’s songs. He’s had songs featured in films as well as television and if you enjoyed them, even if you didn’t know who Freddy Monday was as an artist, you might enjoy his latest album release Everything Anyhow. I personally ran this album through my system at home about four times total and while I could appreciate the craft of songwriting and its execution in which Freddy Monday seems extremely intimate, it just wasn’t an album for me for many different reasons. First off the album seems to remain on a high note for its entire run, even when Monday is reminiscing about a woman who plays mind games or the like. The entire album is too poppy sweet for my tastes and I found that a bit unnerving, as if the album features no change ups to diversify itself with. Secondly some of the album sounds dated. Monday lists some of his influences as Cat Stevens and The Beatles and in a way you can pick up on that but as a whole on some of the songs they sound as if they were taken straight from an old Bee Gee’s album. I’ve learned to appreciate the older work of the Bee Gee’s as I’ve grown older but I don’t want to hear it in the scheme of things from a new artists. There was just a lot I didn’t care for here but at its core it’s a steady album that will have so much to offer to Monday’s fans and people who might stumble across it eventually. Monday is extremely talented, playing mostly all the instruments on the album and writing most of the songs as well. Give him a try. As always, final judgment is yours.
