Bottom Line:

If you are a fan of other scyfy movies, then this will be another satisfying addition to your collection. But don't waste your money on the Blu-ray

If this title has any resonance with you, then you obviously know this is the latest in the cannon of low budget scyfy original movies.

In recent years scyfy has been producing several of these 70-80's throwback B-grade monster movies and Dinoshark is the newest addition.

Depending on how you view cinema, Dinoshark is either a hilarious comedy or an utter piece of shit. While I do enjoy these tongue in cheek monster movies such as Piranha, I find that most of these scyfy films do not work. In order for the so bad its good movie to work, there has to be a feeling that everyone involved was putting as much effort as possible. Getting that feeling makes the humor all the better with it being unintentional and adds a level a charm. But Dinoshark felt completely lazy. From the don't give a shit acting to the two minute special effects, I never got a sense that anyone involved gave a damn.

What is also integral in B-grade films too is gore. You needs either lots of gore or nudity. You get none of the above here. All of the killings has pools of uber-cg blood, but no capitation or even sound effects of bodies breaking. All you are left with is people kicking and screaming and then nothing. Regarding the nudity, there are definitely bikini clad women everywhere but there is never one who takes their top off or any form of sexual activity!

In the end, Dinoshark felt like a 6 year olds unwanted homework assignment that was made in 30 minutes.

As for the Blu-ray, The transfer does brighten up the colors of Mexico, but like the movie, the transfer felt lazy. Anytime there was a close up or a zooming shot the picture became VERY grainy. Most certainly not worth the HD premium.
