Choreography Director was none other the Bob Fosse (All That Jazz) though he was uncredited for his role.

Originally set to reunite co-stars Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire after having starred in two other Irving Berlin films (Holiday Inn and Blue Skies) Astaire declined and Danny Kaye stepped in. The rest was movie history as the film went on to bank twelve million making it the most profitable film for 1954. Not bad for the story of two guys fresh out of the Army building somewhat of an empire out of their stage act who meet two beautiful women and really begin their lives. Co-stars Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen)

Highly impressive but not perfect. As the film begins there is just a hint of black spots popping up and disappearing here and there but are hardly noticeable plus a little video noise that managed to remain behind. As Crosby and Kaye go through their routine for the troops the picture looks as if it could have been shot mere years ago. Once we hit the medic tent and Kaye brings up an idea he has after saving Crosby’s life after a crumbling wall nearly topples on him the picture goes a little warped but only for a short time. Needless to say the worst part of the film is the garish look the advanced picture gives the Technicolor process. Lipstick looks terrible from a distance, bright colors almost exceed natural hue, and skin pigmentation looks orange-ish.

Audio is decent but definitely lacking, especially for a musical. DTS-HD MA is a bit soft. My system reaches perfect sound at about 20 tics but White Christmas needed to go about 25-27 tics to reach the appropriate sound quality. I tried using the Restored Mono track to see if it leveled it out but it still had the same issue. Not all soundtracks are created equally as seeing as how this one is 56 years old its still not to bad.
