The Plot:
Ben, a young kid who has this watch that gives him the power to change into a wide range of aliens. Though now his watch is malfunctioning and it’s at the worst time possible, when he has to fight Aggregor who has more power than Ben does. With the help of Gwen and Kevin, Ben is able to defeat foes that are trying to destroy what is good. Though, even with the help he gets, Ben ends up fighting an enemy he never saw coming and one that might hurt him more than any other enemy has done before.

My Take On Ben 10:
This wasn’t a cartoon that I was caring for too much, the characters and story pretty much is the same with every episode, just the changing of villains (which is not often) is the only difference. The main character Ben can change into aliens to get their powers so he can fight other aliens with power who just want to do bad things. Nothing new is being done in this series, even with the plot line of having the main character being able to turn into aliens, which is why I found it boring to watch.

By the time I had watched the first 5 episodes of this 2 disc set, I was pretty sure that I had seen all 10 of them and by the time I had watched all 10, I realized that I was pretty much right. Here’s the story lines of the first 5, big major bad guy with lots of powers rampaging through the universe, Ben and his friends must stop him, and along the way they run into other villains who they have to stop, who they stop all of them. Now the run down of the last 5 episodes,  Ben and his friends must stop him, and along the way they run into other villains who they have to stop, who they stop all of them. See, when put that way it don’t sound like that great of a watch.
About the only thing that impressed me with Ben 10 was the art work, which was not an all CGI cartoon like a lot of them are today. This cartoon has the look of a late 90’s cartoon, which works for it very well. It’s just the unoriginality of the show that hurts it. Plus that fact that if you start watching this cartoon with this set you won’t understand what’s going on. It’s easy to get the surface levels of the show of good vs bad, but understanding why these characters can do what they can, how they know each other, and everything else about this show is just not being told and wouldn’t be understood.

If this show had more to it than just the fights and the different aliens, though most of the time the same aliens are being used, this might be a better show. But with it being confusing to know what’s going on and why the main character can only hold the alien for moments and an unknown amount at that, it just gets boring to watch. I think kids will enjoy this cartoon because of the fights and getting to see these odd looking aliens and that is fun to watch, but as an adult, the story repeating itself just makes for a boring watch.
