Human Target follows the action packed life of Christopher Chance (played by Mark Valley). While being a body guard of sorts, Christopher Chance is hired to help draw out the enemies of his current client. When Christopher Chance is hired he promptly puts himself into a new persona that allows him to become a part of his clients life and in doing such he becomes the human target for whoever is out to harm his client. With help from his friend and business partner Winston (played by Chi McBride), Christopher Chance is able to get the new clients to keep up his lifestyle of living a secret life that even the government don’t know about. But even he needs to have some extra help in some tight spots and that help comes from Guerrero (played by Jackie Earle Haley).

This show is based off the DC Comics title of the same name, Human Target. Well, that is it’s kind of based off the comic since it has the character of Christopher Chance in it and there are themes that are similar but for the most part it goes its own path. Not that this is a bad thing because so far it’s worked out well for the show. The show has a good concept idea, nothing new really, someone being a hired gun in a way to protect the person that hired them while finding the true bad guy. What makes it work for Human Target is the cast that’s in the show. All three and even most of the guest actors do a good job in portraying their characters. Mark Valley has the swagger down that would come with being someone that lives outside the norms of life while being able to survive fighting a bounty hunter or trying not to fall in love.

Then there’s Chi McBride who plays the partner that finds the clients and must keep the business of being a human target going. Though sometimes it felt like he was going a little over the top with his acting when he was getting upset during a scene but not so much that it hurts the show any. Rounding out the main trio cast is Jackie Earle Haley, who seems to be keeping up with the creepy character that you just don’t know anything about but you like him and want to know more. He does play this type of role well and it works for this character and for having that character in the show. I think without this one character there wouldn’t have been enough of a flow to the stories to keep it interesting. Human Target was a fun show to watch with all the action that’s in it, the locations they go to, and oh yeah the action.

For one hour it’s a nice way to escape reality to go into this world of this character who plays a rebel who’s out to help someone. It didn’t hurt any that I was watching the Blu-Ray of the show here the picture quality is superb. That’s right superb. It’s amazing how good the show looks and sounds. Colors are vibrant, there’s none of that lined effect if some scenes move to fast. Watching a show on my HD tv with the digital cable and HDMI cable was not as clear as getting to watch Human Target on Blu-Ray. Though I really enjoyed the special features on this first season Blu-Ray. There’s one of my favorite features on it, what it takes to make the show from page to screen and even some deleted scenes, well unaired scenes as they are called.
