Interesting Tidbits

When Tracy was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, friends and colleagues contributed time and money to rush production of Trigger. The movie is a final tribute to Tracy Wright.

"Trigger" premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September and on November 22nd it will be released on DVD. The movie is about two sobered up female rock star friends, Kat (Molly Parker) & Vic (Tracy Wright), that somehow cross paths again and attempt to mend their friendship and re-kindle their fame and past success. Shakefire had the opportunity to talk to Molly Parker about "Trigger."

SHAKEFIRE: Hi Molly! How are you doing today?
MOLLY PARKER: I am doing okay. Just getting over a cold, but doing okay.

SF: Sorry to hear that.
MP: It's ok. You didn't get me sick.

SF: That's true. To start off, I was wondering, what was it about "Trigger" that peaked your interest to want to work on this project?
MP: It started when I received a postcard telling me about the project and offering me the part. I already loved everyone involved in the project and it was something I really wanted to do. My dear friend wrote the story and I had already worked with a lot of the people that were involved.

SF: Sounds like a perfect opportunity for you. Are there any similarities or differences between you and Kat?
MP: Good question! Let's see. I used to live in L.A. and Canada. I am currently working on TV. Also, I grew up with friends that were all musicians and artist and I can relate to what they went through.

SF: Did you have to go thru any special prep or training for the part?
Were there any obstacles for the movie?
MP: Not sure if you knew, but my co-star, Tracy Wright, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The movie was made a lot sooner and faster than expected. Tracy was sick, but she still wanted to do the movie. The movie was filmed in 9 days over 5 consecutive weekends. A couple months later Tracy passes away.

SF: I am so sorry. I had no idea.
MP: It's okay. Towards the end, this movie became more about doing something together and I am happy we were able to.

SF: What do you want the audience to walk away with after seeing Trigger?
MP: Mainly a sense of hope.

SF: You have had quite the acting career in both TV and movies. Which shows would you want to work on again and which actors would you want to work with again?
MP: Wow! Another good question. As much as I loved some of the projects I worked on, I don't think I would want to go back to them, not even "Deadwood." As for who I want to work with again, I've worked with a lot of great people. I think Glenn Close and Tracy Wright are at the top of my lost though.

SF: I am a huge fan of "Boardwalk Empire" and I remember seeing you in one of the pictures with Nucky (Steve Buscemi). Is there a chance of you working on the show or was I mistaken?
MP: That was me. There were plans for me to be on the show, but I ended up working on another show and they went a different direction. So, as of right now, I am just the mysterious lady in the picture.

SF: My last questions is, what upcoming projects do you have coming up that we should look out for?
MP: In February, I will be starring in a show called "The Firm" with Juliette Lewis and Josh Lucas on NBC. It’s based on the novel by John Grisham.

SF: Really?! My mom is a huge John Grisham fan. I have to tell her about the show because I know she'll love it!
MP: For sure! Have her watch the show and tell everyone else about it too. My other project is an HBO movie called Hemingway & Gellhorn with Nicole Kidman & Clive Owen.

SF: The new show and the movies sound great. I can't wait to check them all out. Thank you so much for your time Molly and hope you feel better.
MP: Thank you so much and take care!
