Wolverine Trailer Debuts Online

The new preview for X-Men Origins: Wolverine is now online, but you'll have to jump through a few hoops to see it. If you go to the newly-launched X-Men Origins website, you'll see a countdown clock (only 136 days away!) and an area where the preview should be playing.

But it's not. That would be too simple.

No, you have to scroll down a little further and click on the MySpace logo to go to Wolverine's very own MySpace page (he never struck me as the social networking type). Then once you're there, you need to add him as a friend and finally you'll be able to watch the preview right there on the page. You'll also have the option of watching it in HD via Quicktime.

So how is it?

Not too shabby looking. Some of this footage leaked online earlier in the year, in much lower quality, after it screened at Comic-Con. There's lots of dramatic music, some cool visuals and glimpses of the other mutants who will pop up in various roles (Gambit, Deadpool, Silver Fox, The Blob, etc). A couple of the first shots in the preview look like they're trying to appeal to the Batman crowd (you'll know it when you see it), which seems a little suspect. But on the whole, it looks pretty snazzy.

I'm hoping for a good flick, as I'm a big Wolverine fan and I think Hugh Jackman has does a solid job of portraying him on-screen. I didn't think that X-Men: Last Stand was the travesty that many in the comic world described it to be, but it wasn't nearly as strong as the first two X-Men movies. The early buzz on this hasn't been too positive, so we'll see what we get when that countdown clock hits zero.
