Wall Street 2 Pushed Back

Bad news if you’ve been looking forward to watching Oliver Stone’s Wall Street sequel Money Never Sleeps, particularly after the impressive trailers: the film is being bumped back from its April release date to a September slot.

The reasoning? Fox isn’t saying, but Variety speculates that it’s part of a strategy that includes the studio hoping that the movie will be included in the Cannes Film Festival – which runs from May 12-23 this year, and could provide the perfect, awareness-boosting international launch.

Despite the fact that the talent, which includes Michael Douglas, Shia LaBeouf, Carey Mulligan and Josh Brolin, have already been promoting the movie, it’s been decided that the move to an autumn release is a smarter strategy than trying to find a spot in the crowded summer months.

So now we get to wait a little longer to find out what happens to Gordon Gekko after he gets out of prison and tries to reconnect with his daughter while attempting to rebuild his life.
