Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn Lead Season Two of HBO's 'True Detective'

After months of rumors and speculation as to who would star in the second season of HBO's crime drama True Detective, the network has announced that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will head the show's eight new episodes.

Farrell will play Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him, while Vaughn will play Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.

Created and written by Nic Pizzolatto, season two of True Detective will follow three police officers and a career criminal who must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. Fast & Furious 6 director Justin Lin will direct the first two episodes of the new season. Production is set to begin later this fall in California.
