Atlanta Film Festival Announces New Dates for 2020 Event

The 2020 Atlanta Film Festival was originally slated to run from April 30 - May 10, 2020 but due to the Coronavirus pandemic was delayed. The 2020 event is now scheduled to run later this fall from Thursday, September 17 - Sunday, September 27, 2020, the Atlanta Film Society has announced.

We are committed now more than ever to presenting a 2020 Atlanta Film Festival that represents the talent, passion and resilience of the city of Atlanta,” said Christopher Escobar, Executive Director of ATLFF. “While we are disappointed that we are not able to share the stellar lineup announced today as we originally planned in the spring, we are grateful to our sponsors, filmmakers, and supporters for their enthusiasm and dedication that have made it possible for the festival to move to September. We recognize that this is an already busy time of year, and hope to collaborate with as many existing events and organizations as possible to present a 2020 event that truly represents all that Atlanta has to offer.”

The 2020 lineup will include 38 feature length films, 86 short films and 24 creative media that will be presented during the 11-day festival, with 14 of those films slated to have their world premiere at the festival. You can visit AtlantaFilmFestival.com to check out the full lineup of films that have already been announced, with more to follow in the coming months leading up to the festival.

While the historic Plaza Theatre is currently closed in order to encourage social distancing during this Coronavirus pandemic, you can still support the organization by purchasing tickets to the festival, giftcards to the theater, or membership to the Atlanta Film Society, all of which can be done through their website. In addition, Juliano Dornelles and Kleber Mendonça Filho's Bacurau is now playing in Kinonow.com's Virtual Theatre. You can purchase a ticket for $12 to view the film within a five-day period, with each purchase supporting the Plaza Theatre.
