Peter Berg's Battleship will see an alien naval fleet land on Earth in search of... something or other, and the world's navies have to work together to see them off. The good news is that, should humanity get in trouble, they've got someone to send an SOS, with the news that R'n'B star Rihanna has signed up to join the cast in her feature debut.

Yes, her from all those videos will be putting down her umberella (ella, ella, eh, eh, eh) and donning some more sensible galoshes to join the shipboard adventure. It's not yet clear where she fits in to the cast - young naval officer? USO entertainment, a la Under Siege? Presumably she'll be a love interest for Taylor Kitsch's hero (or, less likely, his brother, played by True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard).
