Dani is a singer/songwriter for children’s’ music and she has won several awards. Her debut album, “Beauty Land,” was released in 2013 and received critical praise. On the album, she tells the story of two siblings that are stuck in an enchanted forest. She mixes folk, pop, rock, country, electronic, and metal sounds to create a children’s album unlike anything you have ever heard.
Before finding out this was a children’s music album, I thought her songs were perfect for younger audiences because the lyrics were very juvenile and unusually bubbly. I thought she had great instrumentals and I loved the variety, but it felt a not lopsided. For the first 6 or 7 songs, she has the same tempo and similar instrumentals making the first half of the album feel like one long continuous song. However, she changes up her styles and tempos for the next 2 or 3 songs before returning to the same sound in the 1st half to finish off the album. She is a versatile artist and would have liked to see more balance on the album to fully showcase Dani’s talents. Other than that, this was a fun album your young kids will have a lot of fun with. For those reasons, I am giving “Beauty Land” a “B.”
