Brotherhood is the second anime series for Full Metal Alchemist and it follows the story depicted in the manga, unlike the first which had its own original story. This means that fans should be pleased with all the familiar characters, battles, and all-around action. Full Metal Alchemist has never looked so good...but that's not because it's on Blu-ray.

QUALITY:
The anime is done in a style that is more similar to the hand drawn animes of the old days. I'm not sure if it is indeed hand drawn, at least some parts appear so, but the Blu-ray doesn't do much to emphasize the quality. Some of the battles feature lightning, fire, and other elemental attacks that look pretty fantastic though.

BONUS FEATURES:
Audio Commentary for Episode 14 & 23, Textless Songs, and Trailers.

Full Metal Alchemist is good in its own ways but unfortunately, those aren't advantageous to the Blu-ray format. There really isn't much of a different between it and the DVD, at least nothing worthy enough for the extra cash you'll have to spend. Fans of the series will probably want to pick up the Blu-ray just because it's somewhat better quality but general anime fans who want to check it out for the first time might want to stick to the DVD.
