Leon Alvarado: Music From an Expanded Universe

Music From an Expanded Universe

(Leon Alvarado)
Release Date:
Thursday, October 30, 2014

Leon Alvarado is a keyboardist and composer. He released his third album (“Music from an expanded universe”) on October 30, 2014. Leon has been recording music since the 70’s but did not release his debut album until 2008. On his latest release, Leon includes 5 all new tracks as well as the support of some very talented musicians with lots of experience.
As expected, “Music from an expanded universe” had a very futuristic vibe and synthesized sound to it. The songs were strategically arranged and you can tell Leon put a lot of thought and effort into each of the songs. Each song was different and special in its own way, but you can feel the connection and recurring theme of the whole album. The instrumentals were very impressive, but lacked vocals allowing the music to tell the story. I thought “Music from an expanded universe” was perfect as an EP, but would have felt too long if it were a full album. Overall, this was a very intriguing concept for an album that worked out better than I had expected. For those reasons, I am giving “Music from an expanded universe” a “B.”
