Running Time:
86 Minutes

When three veggies working at a themed restaurant as cabin boys get pulled into the past to help save a prince and princess they must shed their cowardly apathetic persona’s and become the heroes they always wanted to be in order to save the day.  The only problem is that the danger they face might be too overwhelming and too fast for them to handle. Can they pull off the greatest feat of their lives or give up?

I’ve always been a fan of the Veggie Tales for their humorous musical numbers and their moral driven messages but this film was lacking to say the least. I kept asking myself if the creators of the film knew how closely they were following the film Galaxy Quest starring Tim Allen (there was even a monster made of rock and little cannibals). Unlikely heroes get transported to save people who thought they were heroes to begin with, pandemonium ensues and they overcome some of their personal isms as well as succeed in the face of adversity, even at the very end it was identical to the film Galaxy Quest. As simply a kid’s film the journey was thrilling and fun for the kids but the adults simply could not escape the comparisons. Another point of lacking is that the film is simply moral driven losing the touch of faith that Big Idea usually tosses into their Veggie Tales films. It’s not a punishable offense, at least not by me, but it is damaging to their fan base who is mostly faith based. Kids will absolutely love the film and if you’re just watching to watch it’s a funny film that you can sit through once or twice with the kids. Worth the rental at least.
