I am a big fan of the Broadway musical, the soundtrack and everything in between.  When I heard they were making a theatrical movie with 90% of the original cast and directed by the always colorful Chris Columbus, I was ecstatic as were a lot of fans.  It seems, after viewing, a lot of people were disappointed.  Myself, I was impressed.  The production was brilliant and the staging was magical, just like the stage show.

QUALITY:
Bright and colorful yet delightfully somber.  Parts of the fast-movement start to get pixilated but it isn’t enough to really take away from the experience.  The sound is loud and clear, which seems to be, rightfully, the focus of the transfer.

BONUS FEATURES:
Nothing new since the DVD.  Deleted scenes, commentary, documentary, a PSA and some trailers.

OVERALL:
This is an event of a movie.  A daring project for Director Chris Columbus to take on in the face of such a huge fanbase.  The music is uplifting, the story enlightening and true to its source and the movie, as a whole, is a near masterpiece.
