With this album Sassparilla decided to actually release two for one so I feel that with this CD actually should grade both parts separately because they do sound distinctively different. I really like this idea and how they did it the first album was Pasajero, which was done in studio and is more melodic than the 2nd Hullabaloo, which was done in lead singers, Kevin Blackwell’s attic.

Pasajero has a more professional sound to it then Hullabaloo. The instrumentals are cleaner sounding. The playing style also sounds a little more tightly then the 2nd half of this album, which is something id be more likely to listen to later on. I would give Pasajero a B+ if it were a CD on its own.

While Pasajero sounds more professional that doesn’t mean the Hullabaloo sounds band. It has more of a raw feel to it. Like something you would hear if you seen them live. While I like Pasajero better this half of the album has a bluesier feel to it. If it were on its own I would probably give it a C+ because I’m not too big of a fan of raw sounding albums though this one was enjoyable.

So all in all I think I would give the album as a whole a B. I would also recommend to give this album a listen. It’s very enjoyable and easy to listen to.
