Silicon Valley: The Complete Second Season

Silicon Valley was one of the best new shows of last year and gave a hilarious yet relevant take on the booming tech industry. The first season established Pied Piper as a company and showed what they were capable. The second season shows that even despite having a brilliant, once in a lifetime idea, the industry can chew you up and spit you out. Season One was all about creativity. Season Two is about survival.

The premiere episode opens with the very real death of capitalist Peter Gregory. Christopher Evan Welch tragically died due to complications of cancer halfway through the filming of Season One, and while Peter Gregory is continually mentioned throughout the rest of the season, it isn’t until Season Two that we find out that he has passed away.

His death fuels the rest of the season as Richard and the rest of Pied Piper struggle to find adequate funding to keep the company alive. Buyout attempts, lawsuits, and “stolen” code are just some of the misfortunes that come their way.

Season Two proves that Silicon Valley is not some one hit wonder. The show is as funny as it has ever been, as evident by its recent seven Emmy nominations. T. J. Miller remains one of the funniest people on TV. Every word that comes out of his mouth garners a laugh, whether he’s negging a potential buyer to get a better deal or complaining about wide spoons and how they’re not suitable for his Fage Yogurt. Every episode is absolutely hysterical.

Silicon Valley is one of the best comedies on television. Now that Season Two is available digitally and on home video, you have no excuse for not watching because you don’t own HBO. It’s just that good.
