When I covered Soul Eater on DVD I fell in love with the bizarre artwork and the hilarious characters. When Soul and Maka went to take the soul of the Witch Blair and the end result was a bloody nose for Soul I laughed my head off. Black Star is entertainment enough all on his own, but the story was fantastic, for the first half of the series. The final chapters of Soul Eater not so much. So when I was assigned The Meister Collection on BD, which contains the first 26 episodes, the good half of the series rolled into one package, I was ecstatic. So how does it look? How does it sound?

QUALITY:
Yeah, I know you know. It’s anime, and beautifully hand drawn (for the most part) anime, which means it looks awesome. The show does dabble a bit with CGI which falters a bit and some instances where black levels don’t quite reach that solid depth we’d like to see pop up, but for all its worth The Meister Collection Blu-Ray is fantastic. One scene in which Death the Kid takes aim on an Egyptian Kishin has razor sharp line definition, 3D like clarity and depth, and the colors (pretty much throughout) are magnificently vibrant and powerfully represented. Audio is represented in a Dolby TrueHD 2.0 for the Japanese track and a 5.1 Dolby TrueHD track for English. Both are excellent. For the small amount of issues this release has its well worth upgrading or if you don't own it already well worth snatching up ,and with a sell price over at Amazon of $54.99, well considering Part One and Two combined on DVD equal out to just over $61, this is a steal.
