Artist: Kelis Album: Flesh Tone Members: Kelis Genre: DJ/Dance Label: Interscope Records Tracks: 9 Type: LP Release Date: July 6, 2010 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: B- Dancy beats, smokey voice, catchy tunes. Something that we've come to expect from "Milkshake's" Kelis. But this record is a bit more sophisticated than that. The video for "Acapella" is very dramatic, colorful, and there are doggies! I digress. To be fair, there isn't a lot of variety on this record; a repetitive dramatic opening into the familiar dance/house beats with girl-power lyrics ("Emancipate yourself"), but that isn't to say that it's not good. "Flesh Tone" is the kind of trancy type of disc you can put on and boogey away while you clean the house or mow the lawn, or maybe only I would do that. Ok, some people might actually go to a club or something.... This is the sort of disc that I would label as "Fun Summer Tunes" on the ol' mp3. If you're after a clubby atmosphere, then this is the record for you. Kelis' Web site has lots of interesting imagery including Kelis morphed with a dog in a Sphinx pose on the main page. Hmmmm.... Tour dates are also listed. |
