Artist: BattleMe Album: Self-Titled Members: Matt Drenik Genre: Rock Label: TrashyMoped Recordings Tracks: 11 Release Date: April 24, 2012 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: B+ BattleMe sounds so good I’m afraid that after I find out what all the lyrics are, I will find out I’ve been convinced to worship something bad because the music was so good. You know, a couple of subliminal hits sprinkled here and there. I did hear the lyrics loud and clear to the song titled “Tears In My Pile” and I definitely do not condone smoking cocaine! The disc just feels good. I can’t say I can pin a genre on it though. Maybe that’s what makes the best music. I loved the tracks. Reminiscent of Rock and Hip-Hop, very edgy but the singing was smooth. Its’ very well balanced out. Once I read the back story of the album, I realized that lots of art comes out of tragedy. The front man, Matt Drenik was diagnosed with a disease that the doctors’ have no rhyme or reason of how he got it or how to cure it. One note though, I wasn’t sure at first if the album or the group/artist was called BattleMe. So, let’s be clear, album is titled BattleMe and the artist is Matt Drenik. |
