Artist: Norah Jones Album: ...featuring Norah Jones Members: Norah Jones Genre: Blues, Country, Holiday, Jazz, Pop, Rap/Hip Hop, Rock Label: Blue Note Records Tracks: 18 Type: LP Release Date: November 16, 2010 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: A+ Norah's ability to blend her voice with any genre of music is a gift any musician should dream of having. From jazz to country to hip-hop, Norah Jones is a true artist, and it shows in her latest offering "...featuring Norah Jones. The record showcases her musical career over the past nine years (2001-2010) and shows just how many other amazing artists clamber to have her voice on but one of their songs. Any recording artist would be (and should be) thankful to have the chance to record with Miss Jones. Some of the biggest names in music, past and present (Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, The Foo Fighters, Belle and Sebastian, and M. Ward) grace this record. Truth be told, these are the artists of my favorite tracks on the album. Some of which I just had to put on repeat until I was tired of listening to them. Willie Nelson's duet with Norah ("Baby it's Cold Outside") is the perfect duet for this season, and Norah's duet with Belle and Sebastian ("LIttle Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John") will break your heart, even if just a little. If you're a Norah Jones fan, this is the record for you: 18 tracks of pure wonderment. Norah can lend her voice to any genre seamlessly: from smoky (and racy), soulful, to just plain fun ("Creepin' In" with Dolly Parton). What a great record! |
