It’s billed as “The Patriotic Country Collection”, that is the CD Now That’s What I Call the USA. This CD has a total of 17 tracks, 16 and then the bonus track of The Star Spangled Banner. The songs are sung by country artists such as Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, 4Troops, Lee Greenwood, and many more. If you can’t tell by the title, the songs are going to be patriotic songs centered around the USA, and they are, kind of.
I say kind of because though the songs all have one thing in common, USA, they are not as patriotic as I was expecting them to be. What I was hearing was songs that talked about how the person singing lives in the country, they are a country boy or girl, or they are talking about not messing with the USA. Nothing really patriotic in the sense as in makes you want to stand up to salute the flag or what makes me know a good patriotic song, getting that feeling of pride. Now, the songs are not bad songs and they are good enough where they can make the listener feel somewhat good about being country but if you’re not from the country or are a city person then you might not get too patriotic.
Now there are 2 songs on this CD that are real patriotic songs, one being the Star Spangled Banner, tough one not to get patriotic when hearing. I did semi like hearing the songs, they are strong songs that can make people feel patriotic and some feel good about being from the country. As for how good the songs are done, they are all performed well. I didn’t hear anything that sounded bad out of the 17 songs, vocals and instruments. Which is why I’m thinking these are the songs chosen to be on this CD. But the best thing about this CD is that a portion of the proceeds go to the troops and the military families, that to me is very patriotic, helping out with some good songs.
