Title: Ip Man Edition: Collector's Edition Genre: Action/Adventure, Foreign Films Starring: Donnie Yen, Simon Yam, Fan Siu-Wong, Lynn Hung, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi Director: Wilson Yip Studio: Well Go USA Runtime: 330 minutes Release Date: July 27, 2010 Format: BLU-RAY Discs: 2 MPAA Rating: Rating: ( )Grade: A Ip Man was the first grandmaster of the martial arts fighting style of Wing Chun and was even teacher to the legendary Bruce Lee. The film depicts his life in a Japanese occupied China during the Second Sino-Japanese war. What used to be a beautiful city filled with martial arts culture has now turned into a wasteland where citizens struggle to find food. Even the great Ip Man has succumbed to the occupation by the Japanese. In both an effort to earn rice to feed his family and redeem the pride of his city, Foshan, Ip Man fights in a tournament that pits Chinese's best martial artists against Japan's. Be prepared for some high flying fists and amazing acrobatics. QUALITY: BONUS FEATURES: What's weird is that the special features are split up between the Blu-ray disc and an extra DVD included. About half are accompanied with the film and such and the other have are all on a disc on their own. I'm not sure if this was a capacity issue or not, but it can be somewhat annoying to have to switch out discs. Even so, there is a ton of content to go though and martial arts fans will love every moment of it. |
