I’ve had really positive experiences with Leap Frog in the past and the second volume of their educational DVD combo packs which includes a supplemental bonus CD does nothing to hamper that relationship. Included in this particular combo pack are Math Adventure to the Moon, Word Caper, and Math Circus plus the bonus CD which features 13 songs from the Leap Frog collection. Each disc specifies an aspect of the learning process that is incorporated into a story that includes games and audience interactivity plus each disc contains a bonus game which allows your child to take all they’ve learned from the show’s curriculum and put it to the test in a fun non-stressful way.

I watched the series back to back with my 4 year old nephew, whose parents are trying to prep him for his first year of school. I’ve given him Leap Frog DVD’s before so he was familiar with Tad and Lily and enjoyed watching the shows. As a parent or other family member the opportunity to incorporate yourself into the learning process is very easy with these programs, especially when allowing them to be on their own with the bonus games. We watched Word Caper together once and then played the bonus game which asks you to spell words that were featured in the show. He had some difficulties in spelling but asked me if we could watch the show again. The second time around he picked up on a few of the words featured and that was enough for me to know that with the right focus kids can really learn from watching the show, especially if they have the incentive and confidence building potential of playing the game at the end and knowing that they can win. It creates a habit of studying and learning to truly comprehend lessons. In any case I was really happy to see the learning process Leap Frog creates in action. Definitely worth checking out if your looking for something that’s cute and fun but can also offer up the opportunities for educational growth. Enjoy.
