The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Andre the Giant, Hulk Hogan; if you even know the slightest about wrestling, then you most likely have heard of these guys. Legends of WrestleMania showcases all the greatest wrestlers and achievements in this legendary event.

Players can take control of over forty different wrestlers or create their own to take on the competition to become a legend yourself. There are a variety of modes to choose from including WrestleMania Tour mode where you can Relive, Rewrite, and Redefine the events from previous competitions. Then you can try your luck at Legend Killer mode in which you climb the ladder with your created wrestler to become the best.

At first glance, the gameplay can seem rather daunting. There are a ton of ‘different’ moves a wrestler can perform but once you play for a bit, it almost becomes second nature. One thing everyone must learn to excel at is reaction commands; pressing a given button in a quick manner before your opponent gains the upper hand. Master this and it will be smooth sailing through the various game modes as they rely heavily on the actions. Because of this, the gameplay can seem somewhat repetitive.

You can pretty much breeze through the entire game within a few hours if you really wanted too. There isn’t much of a difficulty curve and once you find a strategy that works, you can stick with it, no matter the wrestler.

Probably the coolest thing about this game is the WrestleMania Tour mode where you must meet specific requirements to earn a medal for each WrestleMania. Before each match, the real-life event associated with it is played showcasing the wrestlers. It was entertaining to watch the highlights from the match you were about to recreate; a very cool feature indeed. Another great feature is the ability to import wrestlers from WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 to add a vast array of people to choose from.

So after playing the many different modes and wrestlers, how does Legends of WrestleMania shape up overall? Despite its repetitive nature, the game’s not too bad. I’m not that big a fan of wrestling but even I got a little excited from watching the clips, even though we all know they were completely staged.

You could probably find a decent deal on this game and if you do, it’s one to look into. While it might not be a golden gem, it does have it’s entertainment, even if it’s only for a little while.
