W.A.Y.

MKRV is a Russian band that was founded in 2011. They then somehow found themselves in San Francisco, where they studied music production. Their musical influences include Coldplay and City & Colour. Their latest album, “W.A.Y.,” was released on August 26, 2014 after releasing an EP in 2011.
There is no doubt MKRV is musically talented and their instrumentals on “W.A.Y.” validate this point. However, the vocals were average and the pacing of the album was too slow for my liking. The lyrics were relatable and emotionally deep, but I would have liked to see a change of pace in the album. “Wish-I-Knew” was a standout song, but the other songs on the album were well-written. This album feels perfect if you are relaxing in a bubble bath and want to contemplate life. Overall, “W.A.Y” was okay, but a bit too slow for me. For those reasons, I am giving this album a “C.”
