BOTTOM LINE

The journey is long, Too Many Times. But they aren't too far off.

You know, behind every good band is a story. A journey that the music takes you through that opens your eyes to ideas you wouldn't think of otherwise. In some cases, some bands just create catchy melodies. The kind that get stuck in your head for hours on end and don't bother you in the slightest. In other cases, however, some bands just exist. Too Many Times is here to make you choose which kind of band they are.

Hailing from Yorkton, Saskatchewan Canada, Too Many Times is made up of Vocalist Zach Gabel, Guitarists Ody Tsagouris and Ryley Mcgillivray, Synth player Rory Nussbaumer, Bassist Danny Trevana and Drummer Gage Wagner. Making a statement of their touring schedule, they aren't afraid of traveling all over Canada to gain new fans.

Here's we get to the downside: Too Many Times is a band that doesn't know what they are, yet. They are playing music. They are touring. And they are excited to play for anyone who wants to listen. But, being incredibly apparent while listening to this E.P, the band can never decide what to actually portray. Too Many Times will start a song with heavy breakdowns and screaming, but soon move the vocals over to a completely different sound. What they pull off will be classified as "screamo", but falls short of being done so appropriately. Each track plays itself off as a compilation album of a band "jamming" without a lot structure.

Ultimately, these Canadian rockers are holding back. While listening to all 4 tracks of the self-titled E.P, it sounds as if the band is playing the bare minimum of what they are capable of. As a local band, Too Many Times can pull off a good concert experience. But as performers with dreams of escaping the cold landscapes of Saskatchewan, they have a few roads ahead of them. The journey is long, Too Many Times. But they aren't too far off.
