Artist: Fozzy Album: Chasing the Grail Members: Chris Jericho, Rich Ward, Frank Fontsere, Sean B. Delson, Mike Martin Genre: Metal Label: Riot! Entertainment Tracks: 12 Release Date: January 26, 2010 Discs: 1 Rating: ( )Grade: B- Fozzy, no not the bear, the band, has put out the CD Chasing the Grail. First off don’t think the band is going to be a religious band because of the name of the CD. Complete opposite in fact. Fozzy is a heavy metal band that has some hard playing beats and lyrics that are being sung just as hard as the instruments are being played. Fozzy is a 5 member band that before now I have never heard of but this is not their first album. In fact it’s their fifth album since 2000. My first thing that I liked about Chasing the Grail is that the inside booklet has all the lyrics to the songs. It’s just one of those things that I’ve always liked to have included with an album is the lyrics to all the songs. In a case like Chasing the Grail it’s good cause it would take a few or a lot of times to be able to filter out what was being sung but now I can just easily follow along with the songs. In which case as I listened for the first time to Chasing the Grail as I read I just barely really heard the songs. But because I had read the lyrics I saw that I was liking the songs, though it will still take a bit of time to learn all the lyrics to sing along with the songs they are good enough to learn. Though once I sat down to listen to the songs without doing any reading I heard a band that was a decent heavy band. Fozzy has some good songs, most in fact are good on Chasing the Grail. The band might not be on the levels as the mega popular heavy metal bands they are still good. Fozzy has some fun, head banging beats to their songs. At no time did I think that they were just playing some instruments to be making money, they actually sound like they are having fun playing the songs. This is what makes the songs worth listening to even though the band has a sound of a popular local band that hits the clubs and bars. What impressed me the most was the energy that’s in the songs. Chasing the Grail is an album that’s got songs with good, fast, hard hitting beats played by the instruments and vocals that is not just some guy standing at a microphone screaming. And one last note about something else that I liked about Fozzy: Chasing the Grail, the songs are not short. Each song has a good length to them so that they don’t end to quickly but they are not dragging on either. Pictures/Covers: |

Good Metal
It is an incredible album in my opinion. It seems to reach back into the roots of what metal is. The awesome grinding riffs from the guitar, solid bass drives, and catchy drum beats show that this band really knows what they are doing. The fact that they are blessed with some great lyrics and an awesome voice to back them up makes it that much better. Personally I would give them an A+. 'Watch Me Shine' is an awesome piece of music.
