Solwave was a band that took me a bit by surprise at how diverse their sound is. The very first song on the album, I won’t wait, is a Motown like track that reminded me a bit of Amy Winehouse. Vocals are very bluesy and the music, like I said, could have fallen right out of Standing In The Shadows of Motown.

Leo was probably the only song on the album that I felt sounded like it came out of nowhere. No comparisons with anything I’ve heard before and a pretty solid entry on the EP. A far cry from the opening number.

Lost and Found has a country/blues sway to it that really capitalizes on the range of the bands vocalist and the bands grasp on changing up their sound on a whim.

Follow is a song that is catchy and easy to enjoy, but it did remind me a bit of Gossip from their Music For Men album. As seems to be tradition with the album the band knocks it out of the park.

Finally the band completely destroys it with a rousing rockabilly entry titled Devil In My Head. Are these even the same guys? Mind blown.

From what I’ve read the band is a sight to be seen live. I believe it. The energy on this album is infectious and the change ups and diversity in the music makes me think there’s nothing these guys can’t do. Very well worth looking into. Enjoy.
