Being the first major, older, anime to be released on the format, I was very curious as to how it would pan out.  Dragonball Z has always been on the grainier end of animes, even with the new remastered DVD editions going all the way up through 2007.  The DBZ movies have not always been that well received but the BROLY movies have the distinction of actually being good movies while sticking to what the core audience wants.

QUALITY:
Surprisingly fantastic, for what it is at least.  The images are crisp and extremely bright and colorful.  Although there are some scratches and blotches that pop up here and there, this is certainly the best any DBZ fan has seen up until now in both sound and picture quality.

BONUS FEATURES:
Not much, unfortunately.  There is a trailer for the new Season sets that have been coming out and there is another short making-of for the high definition release that is fairly entertaining showing the arduous process or going from the original film cells to high definition and, ultimately, ending with the promise of DBS on Blu-Ray in July of 2007, obviously showing that there was some kind of delay in getting this out.

OVERALL:
FUNimation’s decision to not milk the fans for more money is a surprising one but welcomed nonetheless.  By featuring 2 movies on one disc for the price of a single Blu-Ray, it will enable DBZ fans to reboot their collection quickly and fairly cost-effectively to surprisingly high quality high def.
