Amusing Moment To Watch For

When Ryan calls Jemmye trailer trash & she gets out of bed in her bra & panties, yelling in her thick accent while still somewhat drunk that just because she is from Mississippi doesn’t make her trailer trash.

So it seems that The Real World has finally run out of cities that welcome them to film and have returned to The Big Easy, where alcohol is easily accessible and where girls are encouraged to be topless with the promise of cheap plastic beads.

So who made the cut this year?

Knight – A guy’s guy from Wisconsin Knight plays hockey; but has a past history of addiction to pain pills.

Jemmye – From Mississippi complete with thick accent Jemmye (pronounced Jimmy) is looking for a good time, doesn’t want to be tied down, and dresses like a stripper.

McKenenzie – A beach girl from Florida, McKenenzie has blonde hair, a beautiful smile, and seems to be a little conservative as she refuses to room with a guy. Very quiet she is hard to read.

Preston – From Boston, openly gay, and loves fashion, Preston wants to have fun and maybe meet someone.

Ashlee – Also from Boston, Ashlee’s career has her selling power tools. She has recently left a long term relationship and is looking forward to being single.

Eric – From Virginia Eric travels for work & is also a stand-up comic. Eric finds all his female roommates attractive.

Sahar – From a small town in Michigan Sahar wants to make it big as a singer. She met someone right before leaving for the show and is torn with how to be as she is technically single; but her heart wants to try the long distant thing.

Ryan – Ryan from Arizona often has people thinking he is gay as he is a hair dresser. His personality is hyper & he often tries to steal the spotlight.

The house that they are in is bad ass. It is huge, crazy with its decorations & themed rooms, has a pool, and looks like a mansion. As the roommates travel to the house for the first time you will get glimpses at their audition tapes & a quick summary of who they are. Then when they start meeting each other the all important getting to know you questions begin: Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend? Are you a virgin? Have you done drugs?

It isn’t long before they decide it is time to start the bonding and hit Bourbon Street to get plastered. From here I’m sure you can guess what happens. People’s feeling get hurt, tension builds, potential hookups start to form, and you get to see who the trouble makers will be. There is a fight among several cast members the first nite but there are no make-out sessions or hook-ups which was amazing to me. Already though in the running for the most drama-filled, fight starting, possibly being kicked out, Puck roommate this season is Ryan. His hyperactive, all over the place nature and need to always shift the focus on to himself is sure to piss off more than one roommate.

How do you grade something like this? For years “The Real World” has gone further & further down the tube as the focus has long drifted from a look at different people from different place leaving in a house to see what would happen and has become more of how long will it take a bunch of 20-somethings, drunk as piss, with tons of beds around to have sex & fight. If you are looking for latter then here you go trashy TV that is sure to entertain you.

For me, I just can’t handle all the childish drama as these strangers have the downfall point of their lives documented for all to see.

For fans of Real World’s past this gets an B- as an episode because it is just starting to warm up. The fight doesn’t really explode into something huge and anything in ways of sex is just in the form of sexual tension.

For everyone else the show gets a D- (not an F because I love the backdrop that is New Orleans).
